GSL ENERGY Installs 2MW / 4.6MWh Liquid-Cooled Commercial and Industrial Energy Storage System for Plastic Factory in Lebanon

In June 2025, GSL ENERGY successfully delivered and commissioned a 2MW / 4.6MWh liquid cooling commercial and industrial energy storage system for a plastic manufacturing facility in Lebanon—a region frequently affected by grid instability and electricity shortages.

Customer Background & Challenges
The client operates a large plastic production plant, supported by a 1 MWp Fronius solar array and a 2 MWh Solax on-grid inverter system.  However, due to unreliable grid power and regular outages, the customer needed a dependable, off-grid commercial energy storage system to ensure uninterrupted operation.

Key project requirements included:

Two sets of 1MW / 2MWh commercial battery storage units

Full off-grid operational capacity

Integration with an external diesel generator for backup support

A customized Energy Management System (EMS)

Custom logo branding on all equipment

Installation via crane hoisting onto a dedicated platform due to space constraints

Tailored GSL ENERGY Solution

GSL ENERGY provided a turnkey AC-coupled hybrid energy storage solution—model PCE CESS-2MW-4.6MWh—designed specifically for commercial and industrial energy storage needs.  The system includes:

Two 1MW Power Conversion Systems (PCS)

Two 2.3MWh advanced liquid-cooled battery cabinets

A fully customized EMS with intelligent control and remote monitoring

This commercial energy storage system is tightly integrated with the factory's solar infrastructure, enabling both on-grid and off-grid operation.  It supports advanced functions such as:

Peak shaving and load management

Energy arbitrage for operational cost reduction

Emergency backup during power failures

Grid-forming capabilities for full energy autonomy

Deployment & Technical Execution


Given the site’s limited accessibility, all equipment was lifted and installed using a crane onto a custom-built platform—demonstrating GSL’s flexible deployment capabilities in real-world industrial scenarios.
